Class Two celebrated St. Patrick’s Day this year in good fashion. The usual village Tetsworth St. Patrick’s Day Parade by the locals had been halted due to COVID and with Clementine, Ava and Kian being Irish we decided to celebrate ourselves.
The children danced the Irish Jig to ‘Tell Me Ma’ numerous times, researched the history of St. Patrick and ate Irish chocolates with a fizzy orange drink that Clair Ponte had bought them. They also were treated to a Zoom Call all the way from Dungarvan in County Waterford, Ireland. Kevin Duhig, Mr. Surman’s friend from Greenwich University taught the children some Irish phrases and answered their questions too. However, the showstopper for St. Patrick’s Day was a live performance from Ireland of Irish Music played on the fiddle by Lisa Collins. The children really enjoyed dancing to the music – Fields of Athenry being a particular favourite!
The day was a great success all round!
Happy St. Patrick’s to Ava, Clementine, Kian, Clair Ponte, Rich Barber, Patricia Pearce, Kevin and Lisa.
